The sun rose for Thomas Lee Berrien on December 11, 1946. He was born the fourth child of Doris Edwards Berrien Jones and the late Raphael Berrien Sr. Thomas joined his granddaughter Malia Celestine Zacarias. The two never met on earth but they will see each other in Heaven.

Born and raised in Florida, he graduated high school and attended St. Petersburg College for two years before joining the United States Army. During his twenty-three years of military service he achieved the rank of Sgt. First Class and he received numerous awards, including the Bronze Star. His military career took him to various countries including Korea, Germany and two tours in Vietnam. While serving in Korea he met his lifelong companion Mary Gant Berrien. During this union a daughter, Anthia Helena Lynn, and a son Anthony Michael Brooks were born.
Thomas second career was with the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed socializing with family, friends, and loved ones. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and watching a great boxing match. Thomas was a wonderful man with a great smile, a witty sense of humor, and a contagious laugh that would brighten anyone's day that heard it.
Thomas will forever be missed by his mother Doris, his siblings Barbara, Ella, Raphael Jr., Thelma, John, St. Clair, Samuel and Kerry. His Children Anthia and Anthony will also miss his presence. The grandchildren Marcus and Angelo will miss their Pop Pop more than anyone will ever know, along with a host of family and friends.
The sun set on this great and loving man exactly 67 years after if rose. Thomas' memory will forever live on in the hearts of everyone he has ever touched. He will always be with us not only in our hearts, but in spirit as well.
Memorial Service will be held 11 am Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Angelus Funeral Directors, 1104 S. Circle Dr., Colorado Springs, CO.
