Walter passed away March 22nd surrounded by his family. He was born June 17, 1924 in Bisbee, Arizona. After serving in the Navy, he married the love of his life and they raised their family in Iowa. Walter was a carpenter, school teacher, Peace Corp volunteer, guidance counselor at Fort Carson, and most importantly a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Walter is survived by his wife, Fern; son, Michael; son, Terry and wife, Patti; daughter, Lou Ann and husband, David; daughter-in-law, Catherine; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 1 sister and his son, Steve.

To cherish his memory, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3rd at Grace Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to One Nation, Westside Cares, Interfaith Hospitality Network or Silver Key.
