Warren Roger Brown, age 90, of Colorado Springs, died Sunday in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Warren was born to the late Roger and Bertha Brown, June 12, 1923, in Indianola, Nebraska. He graduated from Indianola High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945.

Warren completed his education at the University of Indiana, the University of Cincinnati and the University of Nebraska in 1962. He married Audrey Jeanne Newell on August 1, 1953. They started their life together in Scottsbluff, Nebraska where he coached the Scottsbluff Bearcats to the state championship victories in 1952 and 1955.

Warren taught at Willamette University from 1963-1969. He then became a founding faculty member at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs campus where he retired in 1982.

Warren loved history, music, travel, tennis, hiking in the mountains, Cornhusker football and family picnics.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey and his three children: Lynn Brown, Robert Brown and Julie Brown, his four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of Warren's life is being planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Candlelighter's of Southern Colorado (P.O. Box 17621, Colorado Springs, Colorado).
