Lt. Col. (Ret.) USAF Wayne D. Vogt was born in 1926 to Edna and Will Vogt of Moneta, Iowa. He was the youngest of five siblings, all deceased. His wife of 66 years, Helen Irene (McFarland) passed away in May 2013. He was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne D., Jr., who died during childbirth.

After graduating high school, he pitched for the minor leagues and was called up to the Chicago Cubs. He had to abort his dreams of baseball due to an arm injury. In 1943 he joined the Army and then in 1957 reenlisted in the USAF. He served in WWII, Korean, and Vietnam wars.
He is survived by four daughters: Nikki Goletski (al); Jamie and Shawn. Jacqlyn Ruhe (Dave): David (Jen and son Ethan), Dustin and Brandi. Sandra Lowe (Whitson): John, Margaret, and Mark, Kristen Stuart-Hill and son, Taren.
He had a career as a Real Estate Broker and later as a Marshall at the Broadmoor and Kissing Camels Golf Clubs. He enjoyed life fishing, golfing and weekly visits with the ORBS group.
Visitation will take place Thursday, June 12 from 5-7 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors. The funeral will take place Friday, June 13 at Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel at 1 p.m. in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
