Born on January 15, 1944 in Lawton, Oklahoma, son of William Pellum Shirley and Annie Juanita Shirley (Jones). Died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill was married to his wife, Marion, for forty-three years. Together they had four children, and five grandchildren. Bill was the oldest of seven children in his family and took care of all of the kids while the parents worked. He served in the military as a sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. While serving in the war he was a member of Special Ops in Laos and Cambodia and earned several medals for his service. Bill also served as a police officer when discharged from the military and retired in the real estate business. Bill would help anyone in need often going out of his way to do so. He was also into modern history, having tremendous knowledge of American history. He is survived by a son (Scott), daughter (Monica) and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from 12-1pm and service will be at 1pm Wednesday, March 20th at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Colorado Springs.
