polson —Anthony E. Namen, age 70 of Kalispell, passed away on June 21, 2014 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma. Tony joined his big brother Jim in the Anthony and Kathryn Namen household on August 3, 1943. "Uncle Tone" attended and graduated from Flathead High School and Montana State University. He later received his Doctorate from Washington State University. Tony proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
As a biochemist and immunologist, Tony was a Senior Staff Scientist for Immunex Corp. and authored the books, "The Glycosyl Moeity of Sainfoin Leukin" and "Production and Characterization of Bovine Interleukin". In 1991 the FDA approved Immunexes drug Luekine which is prescribed for acute lymphocytic leukemia, Hodgkins disease and non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Tony had numerous hobbies and passions in his life, whether he was digging for the perfect Opal, chasing the elusive monster trout, or hunting the Missouri Breaks with his dear friend Bob. Tony could always be counted on to attack his pursuit with an infectious zeal that elevated the spirits of those around him.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Anthony; mother, Kathryn; and brother, Jim. He is survived by nieces, Kimberly Namen (Mike Fouty), Michelle Delgadillo (Rocky); nephew, Michael Namen (Mindy); great nephews, Christian and Preston Delgadillo; and his friend, Bob (Sandy) Cecrle, whom he considered a true brother; as well as numerous relatives in the Great Falls area.
A viewing will be held Thursday, June 26th beginning at 12:00 pm at Grogan Funeral Home in Polson. Catholic services will be at 4:00 pm on Thursday at Grogan Funeral Home, with Father Miroslaw officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Polson.
Pallbearers are Doug Anderson, Bob Domgard, Greg Matelich, Jerry O'Neil, Stan Root, and Sid Young.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to a non-profit foundation of their choice. Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at www.groganfuneralhome.com.
