Clifford M. Fladstol

Great Falls —Clifford M. Fladstol, 80, of Great Falls, passed away March 18, 2014. He was born to Palmer and Dorothy Fladstol in Zimmerman, Minnesota September 19, 1933 and was raised in Conrad, MT.

Cliff attended Conrad High School, where he played football, basketball and the trombone in the school band and was also active in Scouting. He served in the U.S. Army and was trained in the infantry and as a wheeled-vehicle mechanic and was stationed in Korea, Germany and stateside.

His hard-work ethic and talents were evident as a professional charter bus driver for Hall Transit (where he was recognized for over 1,000,000 accident free miles), Northstar Vending service technician, outfitter at the Bar S, oilfield roughneck in Kevin/Sunburst area, hospital security, TV repair, farm and ranch-hand and handyman at Croxford Funeral Home. He also attended the Chicago technical school of electronic repair to continue improving his skills.

Cliff's civic contributions included helping to establish the Pondera and Cascade County Search and Rescue organizations and his service as a deputy sheriff in both counties. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hot-rod and off-road racing and was an avid fan of Western novels and movies. Cliff also was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Cliff is survived by his brothers Clinton L. Fladstol, Terry L. Fladstol; son Louis M. Fladstol; step-sons Mark Hall, Mike Potts and Kevin Hall; daughters Nelly Fladstol, Judy Truitt and Arlene Neal and he had 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Cliff enjoyed spending his last years out on the ranch in Eden with son Louis, Jennie and granddaughter Brindle Paige, living his life how he wanted it and free.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Arthur and his beloved wife Nancy Fladstol and they were married in 1970.

A memorial service will be held 1:30PM, March 24, 2014 at Croxford Funeral Home in Great Falls followed by internment besides his Nancy at Highland Cemetery. Donations to the Cascade County Search & Rescue are appreciated.
