A memorial service is 4 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, Hadley Chapel, 1700 Hadley Ave., Old Hickory, Tenn, with visitation one hour prior.

He was born on June 21, 1938, in Longview, Wash. David was in the first class of the Marine Corps Navy Enlisted Scientific Education Program, graduating from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and from the Naval Post-Graduate School with a master's degree in electrical engineering. He made exceptional contributions over many years in the development of the Marine air command and control system. His contributions persist today.

After retiring as a major from the Marine Corps, David continued to design, develop and manufacture state-of-the-art defense systems for the militaries of many nations, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Singapore, Thailand, Pakistan, Korea and Japan, among others.
