Kalispell —Nina Delaine Thisted Wirth of Great Falls died Sunday, June 08, 2014, in Kalispell, Montana, after a life of civic and community involvement. She had been residing at Rising Mountains Assisted Living Center in Bigfork, Montana, for the last four months of her life. Delaine was a life-long resident of Great Falls, born on July 20, 1923, to Nina and Nels Thisted, part of a pioneer Great Falls family.
Delaine graduated from Great Falls High School; Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with an Associate of Arts; and from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She also did graduate work in industrial engineering at Northwestern. Following graduation, she was an industrial engineer for the A.B. Dick Company in Chicago.
Delaine married Raymond Lucas Wirth of Chicago on August 31, 1946 in Great Falls. They started their married life in Chicago where her husband was Senior Research Analyst for Standard Oil Company of Indiana. In 1947 they moved to Great Falls where her husband became a partner in the Thisted Motor Company, a Dodge-Plymouth dealership, with her father, Nels Thisted. At the same time, Delaine founded her own firm, Falls Survey.
She devoted the majority of her life to her family, community and volunteer work. She served three times as president of the Roosevelt School P.T.A., was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation where she served on the vestry and was both a past Junior and Senior Warden and served on the Memorial Foundation Board. Delaine was a sixty-four year member and past present of the Junior League of Great Falls and was a sixty-five year member of P.E.O., Chapter I. Additionally, she was a member of the Meadow Lark Country Club for sixty-five years.
Delaine had a life-long love of dogs, especially her beloved cocker spaniels and her current dog, Brandie. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, traveled extensively and spent summers at the family home on Lindbergh Lake in the Swan Valley.
She was preceded in death in 1993 by her husband Raymond. In addition to his partnership in Thisted Motors, he was president and chairman of the board of Great Falls Federal Savings and Loan and an adjunct professor at the University of Great Falls.
Survivors include sons Barry Wirth (Ann) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Craig Wirth of Park City, Utah; and the Reverend Canon Bradley Wirth (Jeannine) of Bigfork. She has four grandchildren including John and Ryan Wirth (Kristen) of Salt Lake City, Christine, to be married next week to Derrick Kimmet of Sunburst, Montana, and Jennifer Wirth of Bigfork. Delaine also has one great grandson, Parker Wirth, of Salt Lake City. She was also preceded in death by a very special friend, Vic Weibel of Great Falls and she considered the entire Weibel family as extended family.
Special thanks goes to the staff of Rising Mountain in Bigfork and the staff of Kalispell Regional Medical Center for their care and love extended to her.
Her service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 600 Third Avenue North, in Great Falls on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 11:00. A reception will be held following the service at Park Plaza Condominiums, 605 Park Drive, Great Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Delaine's name to charities including the Church of the Incarnation, NeighborWorks of Great Falls, or to the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra.
