Kalispell —Don Matulevich, 77, died peacefully at home in Kalispell on 28 April, 2014, with his wife and children by his side. Don was born 28 August, 1936 in Terryville, Connecticut.
Upon graduation from Terryville High School in 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Stationed as a radar operator at Havre Air Force Station (778th AC&W Sqdn.) he met and married Havre native Joanie Moore in 1956.
Don Joined the Federal Aviation Administration in 1959 and served a career as an Air Traffic Controller at Great Falls, MT and Salt Lake City ARTCC until his retirement in 1987. Don and Joanie have lived in the Flathead Valley since that time.
Don is survived by his wife Joanie of 58 years, his daughter Dawn Kato and husband Tim of Missoula, son Joe Matulevich and wife Myrna of Kalispell, grandchildren Logan, Dillon, Blaine, Laurel, and Iris, all of Montana, and brother Bill Matulevich and wife Mev and family of Texas.
The Matulevich family wishes to thank Home Care Hospice, whose exceptional assistance allowed Don to remain at home until his death.
There will be no services per Don's wishes. Johnson-Gloschat of Kalispell will provide for cremation. The family suggests any memorials be a donation to your local hospice or veteran's organization.
