Great Falls —Ellene (Lutteman) Thurmon, most recently of Great Falls, MT, died on Monday, December 16, 2013, 10 days after her 90th birthday. She died peacefully with her family by her side.
A celebration of her life is Monday, December 23rd at 3pm in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Van Gilder officiating. Her family invites her friends and all who knew her to join in this celebration.
Ellene was born December 6, 1923 in Port Arthur, Texas, the daughter of Fredrik Lars Johan Lutteman and Ida Charlotta Olsson Lutteman, who emigrated from Sweden shortly after 1900 and settled in the Groves community near Port Arthur, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She was the youngest of seven children.
She attended the University of Texas from 1942 to 1946, where she met her future husband, Mike Thurmon (Clarence Edward Thurmon). They were married in 1947 and moved to Denver two years later. They raised three daughters: Karin (Carl Ringwald), Catherine (Steven Ayres), and Linda (Michael Ulrich).
Family remained an important focus in their lives. Ellene was the proud grandmother of Joshua Kohl Ulrich, Lauren Elizabeth Ayres, Samuel Thurmon Ayres, and great-grandmother of Rani Francesca Ulrich.
She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by brothers Fredrick Iver, John Eric, Otto Edward and by sisters Greta Fredrika Elisabet Hollander, Evelyn Katherin Lutteman, Ida Marie McBurnett.
