Floyd C. Baumann

Conrad —Floyd Charles Baumann, 88, passed away Sat, Dec 14, in Lakeview Care Center in Bigfork. Funeral service will be Fri, Dec 20, at 2pm at Conrad First Presbyterian Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Floyd was born August 2, 1925 in Grand Forks, N.D., to Fred and Selma (Salisbury) Baumann. At the age of 2 he moved to Conrad and was raised by his Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle George Statham. Floyd was close to his Uncle John and Aunt Norma Baumann. Their children were like his brothers and sisters. Floyd quit high school to join the US Navy during World War II in 1943. He went on to graduate from high school after his honorable discharge in 1946. Floyd worked at a hardware store and cared for Aunt Liz until her death. Floyd married Marjorie Peterson on June 27, 1959. His Aunt Betty Robertson was credited for introducing the two. Together they built their home in Conrad and lived there until Marjorie's death in 2007.

Floyd was a member of the Conrad Moose and VFW. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. Floyd's biggest regret was, at age 27, having a bull elk in his sight and not pulling the trigger.

He never complained and accepted life's ups and downs with grace and courage. Floyd encouraged others to do the same.

Survivors include daughters Linda (Edwin) Ries of Sidney and Kay (Les) Saari of Bigfork; granddaughters Sarah Ries, Abbey Ries, Julie Ries, Jennifer Carroll and Becky Saari; and great-grandson, Ethan Kaiser. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie Baumann; parents Fred and Selma Baumann; Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle George Statham; and grandson Christopher Carroll.
