GREAT FALLS —Frederick "Fred" Toupin, 74, passed away on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at a local hospital due to complications of a car accident.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at VFW Post 1087 with a potluck for friends and family. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home. Fred's ashes will be buried with his parents in Brooks, MN.
Fred was a retired chief master sergeant at Malmstrom AFB. Following his retirement Fred owned and operated a local car lot, "Fred's Auto Sales". He had a real soft heart and was willing to help people who were down on their luck. In 2006, he closed the car lot and retired.
He loved the community he lived in and was loved within it, and was well known for the good things he did. He loved rebuilding guns and reloading ammunition. His enjoyments were hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. "He was the best father, grandfather and friend anyone could have".
Fred is survived by his daughters, LaVonne (Robert) Grosser, of Great Falls and Vicki Welker; son Rolland "Robby" Gregory Toupin both of Grand Forks, ND; six grandchildren, Hunter Shane, Sunie Danielle, Maycie Jaimes, Robert Scott, Elizabeth Anne and Alexzander Jarrett; two brothers, Rolland E. and Gregory of MN; two sisters, Nancy Grant, AK and LaVonne Sjovold, CA; lifelong best friend and faithful companion, John Lefebre of Great Falls; and dear friend, Mickie Graham of Roy.
