Harry Albert Agee

Choteau —World War II Veteran, Harry Albert Agee, 94 passed away peacefully of natural causes at Teton Medical Center Extended Care on Sunday, July 6, 2014. He was born in Agawam, MT on November 29, 1919 to Gilbert and Mary Agee. Harry was the middle child of six children. Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home in Choteau has handled the cremation and a celebration of his life will be at the American Legion in Choteau at a later date.

He graduated from eighth grade at the country school and was anxiously waiting for fall so he could attend high school in Choteau, MT. At that time the country kids boarded in town during the school year and his dad said they would be able to afford that. However, the crops weren't good and there was no extra money, so he had to stay home and that ended his formal education. But he was an avid reader and always kept up with the news and he had a great memory for dates, weather and about anything to do with numbers.

Harry married Elsie McDonell of Choteau on September 12, 1951. He built a house for them near his parents on the Agee Farm and they lived there until January 2009. Except for a year in California in his 20's and the four years in the Army, he called that farm home for 76 years. He always wanted to be a farmer!

He was always "up" for a cribbage game or four or five or more, if he could keep you playing! He played every day for many years and then at least weekly until a few months ago. For 50 years you could find him at the bowling alley in Choteau each year throwing that ball and cussing the outcome. Harry was "highly competitive"!

Harry is survived by his wife, son Rodger Agee, Great Falls, MT; daughter Karen (Mark) Hansen, Fairfield, MT; granddaughter, Rory (Sonny) Fellers, Fairfield and Rene' (Mitchell) Peters, Fairfield; three great grandsons, Trysten Fellers, Remington and Gunnar Peters; and one soon-to-be great granddaughter, baby girl Peters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lillian Stengrimson, Rita Slanina, Betty Kitchens and two brothers, Donald and Earl Agee.

We love and miss you dad, grandpa and great grandpa and know "now" everyday is cribbage, bowling and going out for dinner! Oh, and maybe some fishing, too!

Cremation has taken place and per family wishes, no services are planned at this time. If you wish, please send donations to Karen Hansen, 1098 Hwy 408, Fairfield, MT 59436, as the family is purchasing a memorial tile to be placed on the Teton Veterans Memorial Wall that is being built in the Fairfield, MT park or to the Teton Medical Center Extended Care.
