Harvey H. Holman

Malta, Montana — Harvey Hayward Holman, 83, passed away on November 2, 2013 at The Billings Clinic after an accidental fall at the Malta Lutheran Church on November 1st.

Funeral services were held on November 8 at the Malta Lutheran Church. Family and Friends met for a sharing of stories and fish tales at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7th at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Internment with Military Honors was held at the Malta Cemetery.

Harvey was born September 2, 1930 in Wagner, Montana, to Steve and Jessie Holman, local ranchers.

Harvey graduated from Dodson High School in 1948. In 1952 he drove with his parents to California and joined the Navy. He spent time in California and was deployed on a destroyer, visiting Hawaii and Japan. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal and the Military's Good Conduct Medal - really! He was discharged and came home to work on the family ranch, Holman Hereford Home, where he spent his time working and raising his family.

Once the Ranch was sold and he retired, the biggest part of Harvey's daily routine included working on his "Bed and Breakfast" land by the overpass, spending time with "his girlfriend" Marlene, calling his children and friends, an annual trip to California (and parts South) and talking with his eldest brother and partner, Everall. Harvey also enjoyed going to Club, "a drink of Crown" and visiting with new and old friends. He was always giving everyone (children included) a hard time, always trying to get a "rise out of someone". Harvey loved to shop and negotiate, always looking for a good deal. Harvey looked forward to hunting (with permits), checking cows and haying season.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Steve and Jessie), 2 sisters (Vera and Doris), 3 brothers (Clifford, Orville and Carol), his oldest son (Harvey Jr. "Bugsy") and three infant children (James, Julie and Don Wesley).

He was survived by his beautiful wife, Marlene; daughters Lila (Vic) Belinski, Tara Poole, Kimberlee Tangen, Cindi (Kent) Williamsom, son, Dustin (Crystal) Holman and daughter-in-law, Denyse Claude Holman (Bugsy's spouse). Grandchildren included: Adam and Mathew Holman (Lila); Travis, Jonathan and Davey Poole (Tara); Kailee and Drew Tangen (Kimberlee); Mariah and Zach Williamson (Cindi); Mikaela, Blake and Easton Holman (Dustin). He had one great-granddaughter, Angel Holman-Pulido (Lila).

Harvey also left behind his elder brothers Everall (98) and Donald.
