Jerald "Jerry" Lee Hinzman, 67, of Great Falls, died of lung cancer Saturday, March 16, at his home.

Per his wishes, no services will be held. A private family celebration will be at his favorite camping spot. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.
A retired respiratory therapist and US Air Force and Army National Guard veteran, Jerry was born on Sept. 11, 1945, in Wenatchee, Wash. to Reuben and Dorothy Mary (Holdstock) Hinzman. He graduated from high school in Everett, Wash. He then served 4 ½ years in the U. S. Air Force, including three tours of duty in Vietnam as a jet engine mechanic.
He married Darlean Cooper in Marinette, Wis. in 1966, and they later divorced. Jerry then married Diane Schoby in Fairmont, Minn. in 1971. He spent many years driving truck both locally and over the road. He retired in 2004, after 23 years at Benefis spending most of that time as a respiratory therapist.
Jerry's hobbies included reading, camping, traveling to the mountains and spending time with his family. He was great at tinkering around the house.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane Hinzman of Great Falls; daughters, Jamie (Cliff) Leonard and Jenny (Cory) Eli all of Great Falls; son, Stacey (Julie) Hinzman of Marinette, Wiss.; brother, Frank C. (Kathleen) Smith of Fredrick, Md.; and nine grandchildren, Shayna, Kessler and Krysta Leonard all of Great Falls; and Joe, Megan and Mary Eli all of Vaughn; and Amanda, Erika and Megan Hinzman all of Marinette, Wiss.
