Geraldine —John W. Mogstad passed away quietly on Saturday, December 28th in hospice care at the Bee Hive Home in Great Falls, Montana. He was 94 years old. John was born on June 27, 1919 in the Graceville area on the family homestead north of Geraldine to Lars and Isabel Mogstad. He was one of 6 children. He graduated from Geraldine High School in 1938 and worked in the area until he entered the service. He was in the Army Air Corps in World War II, durng which his travels included North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. After the war ended he returned home to Geraldine to work and farm with his dad. He met Elizabeth (Dub) Sibra and they were married in 1946. They had two children, Sharon and Robert. He spent all his life in Geraldine, where he was a life long member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Masonic Pilgrim Lodge 102. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was proud to be from Geraldine and had many stories about his life there. John was also proud to be a Norwegian and had a taste for the food. He loved his children and grandchildren and spent many an hour attending their activities. He especially liked track since he, himself, was a sprinter with many a blue ribbons to prove it. John was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, sister: Opal Koch, brothers: Leeward Lars, Luke, and Don Mogstad.
John is survived by his children; Shary Fiske (Karl) and Bob Mogstad (Kate), five grandchildren; Karren Gantt, Ole Fiske (Wendy), Jonathon Mogstad (Michelle Scribner), Mathew Mogstad (Liz), and Jared Mogstad, four great-grandchildren; Jordan Gantt, Soren Fiske, and Calvin and Zoey Mogstad. He also has numerous nieces and nephews and their families. There will be no funeral services but there will be a private family memorial. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Pilgrim Lodge 102, the Geraldine Historical Society or the church or
