WHITEFISH Leonard Powell, 91, died of natural causes Friday, Nov. 30, at The Springs in Whitefish.

Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at the Blessed John Paul II Catholic Church in Bigfork. A celebration of Len's life will follow the service.
Leonard Powell went peacefully to Our Lord and Savior on November 30, 2012. He was born June 30, 1921.
Len loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting throughout his life. Len and his childhood friend, Will, were avid backpackers in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in their younger years. Len served our country in World War II in the US Air Force. He received his commission as a second lieutenant at Yale University. He graduated from the Montana School of Mines in Butte with honors in 1949, with a degree in metallurgy. Len worked at the Anaconda Company in Great Falls after graduation doing many jobs. He was promoted to plant manager and eventually became corporate vice president. Len had many other accomplishments in his business career. Companies around the world consulted Leonard about advancements in the industry. After retirement, Len and his wife Joan were involved in many activities, such as owning orchards, buying and selling real estate, singing in the church choir, square and round dancing and showing movies of his fishing trips and his travels to shut-ins. Len loved life. He will be missed by many who knew him, especially by his dear wife Joan. The love they shared for each other was evident to everyone.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Joan; the Rogers family; and numerous other relations.
