Greenville SC —Phyllis Goodman, 85, peacefully passed away Friday, August 1 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC.
She was born Phyllis Ann Cox on May 24, 1929 in Fairfield, Montana and spent much of her life there before moving to Greenville, SC in 2007.
She held a teaching degree from Arizona State University and taught elementary school for a few years in Montana. She married Ben Goodman in 1951 and moved to Great Falls. After the birth of their two sons, the family farmed in the Fairfield area for seven years, then moved to Great Falls and farmed there until Ben's death in 1988.
Phyllis moved back to Fairfield, was active in the Senior program there, and was named Senior Citizen of the Year in 1995. A sister, Jean, preceded her in death in 2004.
She is survived by her sons Cliff (m. to Catherine), Missoula and Jeff (m. to Sherry), Greenville, SC; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Life Celebration will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 9 at the United Church of Christ in Fairfield.
