Ann Belekevich Obituary
Belekevich, Ann J.

Ann J. Belekevich, 93, Madison, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, in Madison. She was born January 6, 1920, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Joseph and Anna (Platkus) Skeris. She graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1938. After high school she was employed at Hand Knit Hosiery in Sheboygan as a supervisor.

On May 4, 1946, she was married to Charles A. Belekevich at Immaculate Conception Church in Sheboygan. The family moved to Green Bay in 1954, where Ann raised her family and worked as a part-time banquet waitress. Her most treasured achievement was receiving the Paul Harris Fellow award by Rotary International for 30 years of service to the Club.

As a Charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Green Bay, Ann participated in many activities including parish picnics, Daughters of Isabella and singing in the church choir for over 40 years. At home she enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, reading, baking and playing long games of Scrabble.

She is survived by five children, Larry Belekevich, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Costa Rica; Dr. Sue (Del) Brown, Madison; Charles S. Belekevich, Green Bay; Diane (Charles) Von Haden, Green Bay; James (Lois) Belekevich, Madison; 11 grandchildren, Thom (Bob) Belekevich; Andy (Tiffany) Belekevich; Erin (Ian) Colgan; Kristin (Tracy) Murray; Sara Brown; David Brown; Steven (Heidi) Belekevich; Alicia (Javier) Sandoval; Matthew Belekevich; Adam Von Haden; Mallory Von Haden and nine great-grandchildren, Dylan, Avery, Liam, Raegan, Austin, Jacob, Jack, Libby, Maria and Sophia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, brothers, Edward, Alex, John, Stephen and sister, Stella.

Ann was an ever-cheerful spirit, with an infectious smile and uniquely special laugh to match. She very naturally made people feel welcome and at ease, no matter the circumstances. There were never any unkind words, only a genuine caring for all those in her life. Though we'll all miss her dearly, she will always remain in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr., Madison on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Sheboygan at a later date.
