Truckey, David P.

David P. Truckey, 67, Stiles, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Jack & Engrid Meng Residence in DePere following a long illness with heart disease. He was born October 1, 1946 in Oconto Falls to David J. and Ariel "Betty" (Brabant) Truckey. David grew up in Stiles, where he attended the local two room schoolhouse through 6th grade before attending Washington Middle School in Oconto Falls. Following graduation from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1964, David enlisted and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.

On June 15, 1974 he married Suzanne Monette at St. Louis Catholic Church in Abrams. David lived all of his life in Stiles where he was once employed by VerHalen in Green Bay as a driver and warehouse manager. He later was employed in custodial services in the Lena School District where he worked for many years before retiring in 2005. David was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles where he served on the parish council, ushered and volunteered in numerous capacities. During his lifetime he enjoyed pitching softball in league competition, hobby farming, following many sports, especially those with the Badgers, Brewers and Packers and being an avid reader. David loved being together with his family, showing their affection for one another while enjoying a good laugh and always demonstrating his devotion to prayer.

Survivors are his wife, Suzanne Truckey, Stiles; their two sons, David L. (Yvonne) Truckey, DePere; Matthew (fiancé Kerry Chaudoir) Truckey, Stiles; two grandchildren, Lydia (Jason) Norris, China; Marysue Truckey at home; one great grandchild, John Norris; his mother, Ariel "Betty" Truckey, Stiles; his three siblings, Sister Donna Truckey, SOLC, Green Bay; Tom Truckey, Gary (Ruth) Truckey, all of Stiles; his mother-in-law, Sabina Monette, Little Suamico; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Randy (Carol) Monette, Abrams; Margaret (Joe) Hornik, Joanne Radzinski, all of Oconto; Leonard (Maryann) Monette, Michael (Kathy) Monette, all of Abrams; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1985, two brothers, Wayne and Mark Truckey and father-in-law, Leo Randal Monette.

Visitation will be held 4-8pm Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls, prayer service 7pm Sunday. Visitation will be held after 10am Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Monday at the church with the Rev. Frs. Joel Sember and Jim Hablewitz concelebrating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.

The Truckey family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staffs of Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice for the care and concern shown David during their time together.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Unity Hospice and designated for two purposes, the Jack & Engrid Meng Residence or the Sgt. David L. Rasmussen Fund at Unity (www.unityhospice.org).
