Gerald H. Berg Sr., age 91 of Kewaunee died on October 22, 2012 at Bellin Memorial Hospital. He was born February 5, 1921 in Ladysmith, WI to the late Herman and Selma (Wellhausen) Berg.
He married Helen Barta on October 28, 1944 in Kewaunee. Gerald served in the U. S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.
He farmed in the Town of West Kewaunee most of his life. He also worked at Kewaunee Engineering and Hamachek Machine Co. for many years until retiring from Kewaunee Engineering in 1985.
He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 3392 of Kewaunee and also a member of American Legion Post 29 of Kewaunee. He enjoyed hunting with his son and grandson and regularly played cards with the neighbors. He especially enjoyed spending time with the family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife: Helen; one daughter: Arlene Berg, Kewaunee; one son and daughter-in-law: Jerry and Jean Berg, Kewaunee; three grandchildren: Craig (Annie) Berg; Kelly (Special friend, Kelly); Tina (Jeff) Vlies; four great grandchilden: Alyssa and Ashley Berg; Coy and Sara Vlies; sister-in-law: Eleanor Demell, Whitelaw and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Eunice and Frank Cisler; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Raymond and Betty Barta and brother-in-law: George Demell.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 26 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee until the time of services. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Howard Batt officiating followed by Veterans Services. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
