Shaughnessy, J. Patrick "Pat"
J. Patrick "Pat" Shaughnessy, 84, Allouez, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at a local hospital. He was born August 24, 1929, in the town of Glenmore, WI to John and Mabel (Collins) Shaughnessy. Pat graduated from Cathedral Grade School, Central Catholic High School and Marquette University. Pat served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
On September 19, 1980, Pat married the loved of his life, Marjorie Sorenson in Door County. Pat was employed for 37 years at Green Bay Packaging in the Shipping Container Division, Corporate Offices, and the De Pere Division. He retired on December 31, 1991.
After retirement he and Marge loved to travel, spending winters in Florida, visiting California and a wonderful trip to Ireland. Pat was an avid runner for many years and also enjoyed being outdoors.
Pat is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; his three sons, Tim, Naples, FL; Pat (Pam), Greendale; Dennis, Allouez; step-children, Steve (Lora) Doherty, Ashwaubenon; John (Melissa) Doherty, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA; Maureen Doherty, Green Bay; grandchildren, Antonio and Nicole Olivo, Kaitlyn, Megan, and Margaret Shaughnessy, Maverick, Avalon, and Daytona Doherty, Breanna Doherty; sister, Loraine Clancy; brother-in-law, Mike (Barbara) Gabryszek; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Julia Gabryszek; sisters, Aileen Shaughnessy and Mary Brunmeier; daughter, Terri Schaefer; and daughter-in-law, Valerie Shaughnessy.
Friends may call in the Resurrection Room of the Bishop Wycislo Center at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., (due to the construction, please come north down Madison St. and enter through the Cathedral Bookstore driveway), from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral with Msgr. James Feely officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to the St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Aurora BayCare Hospital staff, especially the first floor nurses and also to the staff of Home Instead, who helped Pat so much in the last several months.
