Butler, Jerome "Jerry" J.

Jerome "Jerry" J. Butler, 93, of Green Bay, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, after a courageous fight with cancer. Jerome was born on June 11, 1920, in Vulcan, Michigan, the son of the late Joseph F. and Emma (Crantz) Butler. Jerry served in the Army Air Force, in WWII as a pilot, flying a B24 Liberator Bomber. After the war, he received an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Marquette University where he stayed on as an instructor for two years. On June 17, 1950, Jerry married Norma L. Anderson in Vulcan, MI. For the next 34 years, he was employed by the WI Dept. of Transportation in the Green Bay Division Office. Jerome was the District Chief Construction Engineer for many local projects. He was a part-time Instructor at St. Norbert College, served on the Green Bay City Traffic Commission, and belonged to the National Society of Professional Engineers, Knights of Columbus, Trout Unlimited and the American Legion. After retiring, he spent nine years as a consultant for Ayres Associates.

Over the years, Jerry worked hard and played hard. An avid fisherman, golfer and traveler, he and Norma enjoyed summers at their cottage and winters on Dauphin Island, AL with family and friends.

Jerome will be missed by his loving wife, Norma; his children, Jerry Butler, Christine Dunbar, Rebecca (Craig) Filiatreaux, Paul (Karen) Butler, Pamela Butler (Scott Moegenburg); grandchildren, Nicholas Dunbar, Joel Butler, Emily and Reid Filiatreaux, Max and Sam Ausloos; and great-grandchildren, Jacques and Lucie Butler, Max and Tucker Jerome Ausloos. He will also be missed by sisters, Henrietta (Robert) Battiola and Joyce Coombs; a sister-in-law, Delores Butler; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jerome was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Butler; his siblings, Willard, Norma and Connie; brothers-in-law, Miles, Curtis, Roy; and Deloris Massie.

Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th St., on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. The family extends a thank you to the awesome caregivers from Unity Hospice, especially Traci and Sarah. We thank you for helping us along this journey.
