Kenneth J. Foral
Kenneth J. Foral, April 6, 1927 to June 1, 2014. Kenneth is survived by two sisters, Elaine LeFebre and Loryce Heisel; one daughter, Mary Ann Hitz (Jim); four sons, Richard (Elizabeth Schussler), Michael (Irma), James (Debbie) and Thomas (Nannette); his grandchildren Colin, Rudy, Melissa, Joshua, Christina, Jennifer, David, and Eric, plus five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Emma Foral, his wife of fifty two years Phyllis (Prust) and their infant son, Timothy.
Kenny was a life-long resident of Lena. He was a 1945 graduate of Lena High School and served in the U.S. Army of Occupation of Germany after WWII. As a young man through to his retirement Kenny operated a small town Ford dealership. He took pride in serving generations of customers. Kenny served his community through leadership roles with the Doney-DeGrave Post 342 of the American Legion, St. Charles (St. Anne) Catholic Church, and twenty years as chief of the Lena Fire Department.
Kenny enjoyed fishing, traveling with Phyllis, creating useful things with wood and metal, visiting with friends and family, telling stories and enjoying the outdoors at the cabin. Kenny brought joy to others by recognizing the bright side of life. He remained quick with a joke and a story no matter the weather. Hardly a day went by when Kenny did not sing or whistle a favorite tune. We who love him will long hear those cheerful melodies in our hearts and minds, too.
We are thankful for the companionship offered by Betty Leigh in the final years of Kenny's life. In addition, Tom's on-going love and care for Ken and Betty made it possible for him to stay in the town he loved so much. The family also wishes to thank the many friends and extended family who have joined with him over the recent years to visit and share memories.
