Leanes, Mary Ann

Mary Ann Leanes passed away peacefully at Fairfax Hospital on December 17, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Mary Ann was born to John and Marietta Baggiore in Negaunee, Michigan. She comes from a family of 7 children, survived by her oldest brother Augie. She is survived by her husband Andrew and their three children; James, Judith Brown, and Deborah McCue, her 6 grandchildren, her 6 great grandchildren, and her 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann attended St Paul High School. In the years after high school she worked at the Gossard sewing factory in Ishpeming, Michigan. She married one of her high school classmates Andrew Leanes on October 10, 1949 and had a wonderful marriage. They lived in several cities and finally settled in Green Bay Wisconsin where they raised their family. When her children went off to college so did she. She attended NWTC and became a Respiratory Therapist. She worked at Saint Mary's Hospital for 10 years.

After retiring she and Andy moved to Pensacola, Florida to enjoy the sunshine. She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church where she donated her time helping others. She also volunteered her time by assisting the Knights of Columbus and Elks club. She belonged to a favorite card club at the senior center. After years passed she moved to Virginia to be closer to their daughters.

Mary Ann enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, walking, golf, bowling, bingo, playing cards, listening to opera but especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a compassionate woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She had a love for music and the arts as well as nature. Mary Ann will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
