Oliver Thomas (Tom) Zahn, 70, Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012. He was born on Jan. 21, 1942, to Oliver and Alice Zahn of rural Gillett, Wis.

Tom was a 1961 graduate of Gillett High School. He continued his education graduating with a Masters of Arts and Education degree from Concordia University. He served 28 years with Redeemer Lutheran School in Green Bay, as a teacher, coach and finally principal of the school. After leaving the education field, Tom began his second career as a financial planner with American Express Investments. Following the death of his wife, Alice in 1996, he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1997, to be closer to his daughter, and continued his work in the investment field until 2004 when he began his own company, Zahn Investments and Financial Planning, retiring in 2009. He married Paula Bucher in 2002.

Most of his life Tom was a member of the Lutheran Church and served in many capacities. In 2005, he and Paula joined Highland Heights Christian Church and when it closed they joined the First Christian Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. He served as a deacon, elder and as a teacher for the Open Door Bible Class until his death.

Tom is survived by his wife, Paula; his daughter, Dr. Brenda (Dennis) Kays, Locust, N.C.; Paula's sons Randy (Cindy) Bucher, Valley Mills, Texas; Scott Bucher ,Watauga, Texas; David Bucher, Westminster, Colo.; three grandchildren and their spouses, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters and brothers-in-law, two nephews, three great-nephews and thre great-nieces.

Tom is preceded in death by his first wife, his parents and a niece.

He enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, fishing, gardening, and a good game of golf or bridge. He was a member of the Rotary Club.

A memorial service for Tom, with the urn present, will be Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 463 Rose Hill Dr., Oneida WI. 54155. Pastor Vern Heim officiating

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Bible Class Fund, in honor of Tom's love for teaching Bible class
