Richard E. Rebman, 82, Green Bay, died Saturday evening, January 4, 2014. He was born on August 24, 1931 in Two Rivers to the late John and Ella (Durocher) Rebman. After Richard graduated high school, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard working with the search and rescue division. He was honorably discharged in 1954. On October 8, 1955 he married Janet Hoida at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Coleman
Richard worked for Northern Paper Mill, Coleman School Supply and DSS Office Systems. He was CEO and sole proprietor of R.E.R. Janitorial Service for more than 20 years. Richard also worked for Cliff Wall Auto as a shuttle driver and retired from the Oconto Rural Electric Cooperative. He was very active in the church and community serving on the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus Council 10243 and was the State Deputy from 2001-2002. Richard was a little league baseball coach and a pack leader for the cub scouts and boy scouts. Richard served as an officer in the Equitable Reserve Association for over 19 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to grow vegetables in his garden, especially tomatoes. His family proudly proclaimed him the master of sheepshead. His life's focus was family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Debra (Richard) Christensen; Gregory (fiancé, Susan VanHulle) Rebman; Scott (Ruth Anne) Rebman; Dale (Kathy) Rebman; Rachelle Rebman; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Joseph "Rene" Rebman; 1 sister, Judie (Florian) Kotecki; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Thomas) Killian; Sue (Richard) Sadowski; Kathleen LeFevre-Hoida; Vi Rebman; Therese Rebman; Ursula Rebman; brothers-in-law, Allen (Judy) Hoida; Ken Martens; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, John "Jack", Robert and Eugene Rebman; sisters-in-law, Grace Rebman and Suzanne Martens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Florence Hoida; 2 infant sisters-in-law and 1 infant brother-in-law.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Tuesday (TODAY), from 3 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, from 9 to 11 a.m. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with The Most Reverend Robert J.
