Robert Paul (Bob) Austin, age 81, formerly of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas died Thursday August 7, 2014 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

He was born May 4, 1933 in Negaunee, Michigan to Paul and Celina (Garceau) Austin. Mr. Austin was a former member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the UAW (United Auto Workers) in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and was an "ace" pitcher in a local fastball league in the 1960s-70s.

He graduated in 1951 from Ishpeming (Michigan) High School. He authored the Class Song for his graduating class. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and later graduated N.E.W. Technical College's electrical apprenticeship program.

He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War and achieved the rank of E-2. After completing naval service, he worked at Cutler Hammer in Milwaukee, entered an electrical apprenticeship program in Green Bay, and passed the Journeyman Electrician exam.

He worked with various electrical contractors in Green Bay 1960 to 1966. In 1967, he was employed as an electrician by Paper Converting Machine Company in Green Bay. He retired after 28 years in 1995. Following retirement, he and his wife moved to Hot Springs Village where he could pursue his favorite avocation - golf.

He was predeceased by his parents, a nephew, Stephen Black and a niece, Nadine Lakari Nault.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Diane Lakari Austin - Green Bay, sons Stephen Austin - San Jose, CA, and Gregory (Dawn) Austin - Suamico, WI; daughters Michele Austin (David Glazier) - Palm Coast, FL and Danielle (Mike) Austin-Rauch - Waukesha, WI. Grandchildren are James Austin, Annie and Tyler Gretzinger, Muriel Austin, Chloe and Lexie Rauch, Vince Maiuri, Marissa Peters, and Matthew Vanvleet.

He is also survived by four sisters and a brother: Joann Hakala of Negaunee, MI, Fern Black of Raleigh, IL, Pauline (Jim) Price of Loves Park, IL, Susan (George) Amlott and Terry Austin both of Ishpeming, MI. He'll be missed by twenty-two nieces and nephews, who were fond of Uncle Bob.

A memorial service will be held at Pfotenhauer Funeral Home, 1145 Cardinal Lane, Howard, WI on September 20, 2014 at 4:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 2:30 pm. An informal gathering will follow at Townline Restaurant for family and friends. Online condolences welcome at
