Robert Stein Obituary
Stein, Robert A.

Robert A. "Bob" Stein

A journey of more than 91 years ended Thursday, August 29, 2013 when Robert A. "Bob" Stein went home to be with The Lord. Born on June 3, 1922 to the late Joseph and Regina Stein in the town of Meeme in Manitowoc County, Bob was a 1941 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School.

On May 24, 1942, Bob married June Schneider in Jacksonville, Florida where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy. Bob was proud to have served his country aboard the U.S.S. Entrepid during World War II and the Korean War, after enlisting shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Following the war, the Steins returned to Sheboygan where they raised three children before relocating to Green Bay in the mid-90s. Bob was a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Sheboygan until his retirement in 1976 and recently received his pin for more than 50 years as a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Bob was active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan where he served as head usher for many years, greeting everyone with his infectious smile. He was a devoted fan of the Packers, Brewers and Bucks in good times and bad. Above all he was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was always there to support his kids and grandchildren in drum corps, dance, baseball, hockey and other activities.

Bob is survived by his daughter Terri (Fred) Schaefer of Two Rivers; son Scott (Beth) Stein of Green Bay; daughter-in-law Lori Stein of Green Bay; grandchildren Kimberly Stein of St. Paul, MN; Kristin (Rob) Laumeyer of Eden Prairie, MN; Nicole Stein of Chicago; Elizabeth Stein of Madison; and Alex Stein of Madison; and great-grandchildren Amanda and Robert Michael Laumeyer of Eden Prairie, MN.

He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Monnie Stein, June Stein and Bonnie Stein, all of Indiana; plus many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother Lucie Stein; his wife June; son Robert; daughter-in-law Luanne; grandson Kenan; brothers Frederick Stein, Leander Stein and Roman Stein; sisters Marjorie Schultz, Bernice Stein and Ann VanDeLoo and sister-in-law Carol Huibregtse.

Friends may call at Faith Lutheran Church 2335 S. Webster Ave. Green Bay after 9:30am Monday September 2, 2013 until time of service at 11:30am. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Sheboygan on Tuesday morning at 10am

The Stein family would like to thank everyone at St. Vincent Hospital and Manor Care-East for their care during Bob's final days. Thanks to Bob's wonderful caregiver Terra and the staff at Home Instead Senior Care and to Ellen and Peter Tilleman for their loving support.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Bob's name for Faith Lutheran and Our Savior's Lutheran churches.
