Ronald E. Smet, 81, Green Bay, died peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was born June 21, 1932, in De Pere to the late Edward and Mabel (Danen) Smet. Ron, a graduate of St. Norbert High School in De Pere, earned his B.A. degree in Architecture, at the University of Notre Dame. In the Chapel of Notre Dame, on August 27, 1955, he married the lovely Miss Mary Jane Pittman. Ron was V.P. at Hofman & Associates and ended his career in private practice. He had a passion for sailing, races at Elkhart Lake, and was a music enthusiast. Ron enjoyed cooking, especially making stew at family campouts. It was Ron's artistic talent that created his children's fondest memories; the Halloween haunted cabin and Christmas illusions..
Ron is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, and their six children; Beth (Joddy) Croswhite, Jeff (Robin) Smet, Lisa (David) Bartikofsky, Eric Smet, Scott (Julie) Smet, Joe Smet; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his brother, Paul (Darlene) Smet; nieces and nephews.
As per Ron's wishes, private services were held at Proko-Wall Funeral Home. On-line condolences may be sent to Ron's family at www.prokowall.com. There will be a celebration of Ron's life at a later date. Ron's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wyndemere Estate and Unity Hospice.
