Sewell F. Greely, 85, Green Bay, died Monday, May 13, 2013. He was born February 24, 1928, in Racine to Sumner and Mary (Conlon) Greely.
Sewell served in the U.S. Navy after WWII. He later attended UW-Oshkosh. On February 3, 1951, Sewell married Elizabeth Smith at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Bear Creek. He worked for 27 years as a mechanical designer for Northwest Engineering and later for Leach Company. In his retirement, Sewell enjoyed biking, running, visiting family, and doing oil paintings. His family was very important to him. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, scouts, boating, sports, skiing, snowshoeing, biking. His home was a playground to many neighborhood children. Sewell will be remembered as a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and neighbor.
Sewell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children and their spouses, Chuck Greely, Mike and Coralee Greely, Tom and Beth Greely, Jeff and Sharon Greely, Matt and Michelle Greely; his grandchildren, Lisa, Marc, Rachel, Windy, Kristi, Tara, Scott, Krista, Kayla, Sarah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Joy, Hannah, Luke; five great-grandchildren; his sister, Lucille Sorensen; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sumner and Mary Greely; a brother, Robert; a sister-in-law, Stella; a brother-in-law, Walter Sorensen; and other beloved relatives, including several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at Annunciation Church, 401 Gray St. from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Rev. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Sewell's name.
