Hoffman, Wallace

Wallace E. (Wally) Hoffman passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2013. He was born in Algoma on October 12, 1930 to the late Orlando and Elsie (Laubenstein) Hoffman. Wally graduated from Algoma High School in 1947 and was salutatorian of his class. He received a B.S. degree from Oshkosh State Teachers' College in 1951 and a M.S. degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1952. Wally married Marjorie Guitzkow on October 11, 1952, in Madison at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He began his teaching career in New London at Washington High School and moved to Green Bay in 1957 where he taught at Franklin Junior High, Southwest Junior/Senior High and Lombardi Junior High, retiring in 1986. Wally spent his entire career coaching speech and drama, served on Wisconsin High School Forensics Boards, and scheduled tournaments and judged throughout the state until the time of his death. He was a past member of the Boards of Education of Redeemer Lutheran School and Pilgrim Lutheran School in Green Bay. Wally enjoyed antique collecting and garage sales, card playing and casino trips, and month long vacations in Scottsdale, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. In addition, he and Marge were privileged to tour Europe, Australia, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and many of our own 50 states.

Survivors include one daughter, Joni (Kevin) Schaefer, Grapevine, TX; son-in-law, Dave Anderson, North Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Tim (Jackie) Trinh, Suamico, Erica (Matt) Flowers, Westminster, Co., Jolene Schaefer, Grapevine, TX; three great-grandchildren: Nadia and Mason Trinh, Suamico, Matt Flowers Jr, Westminster, Co.; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Don Schwark and Shirley Guitzkow.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge; his daughter, Jeri Anderson; his parents, Orlando and Elsie Hoffman; his grandparents, August and Lena (Staebs) Hoffman and Edward and Amelia (Rodrian) Laubenstein; parents-in-law, Carl and Gladys (Hooks) Guitzkow and sister-in-law and brothers-in law, Norma (Guitzkow) Hahn and Arthur Hahn and Charles Guitzkow.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1731 St Agnes Drive, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Malme officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Bay Settlement Road. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated for NEW Lutheran High School, Pilgrim Lutheran School and Pilgrim Church Scholarships Funds, Unity Hospice, or donors' wishes.
