David Russell Goodale

Greenville

David Russell Goodale died at his home on February 18, 2014 following an extended illness. He was born on September 11, 1934 in New Britain, Connecticut, the elder son of the late Edward Russell and Mary Parsons Goodale.

He graduated from San Marcos Military Academy and Texas A&M University. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the US Army and retired from the reserves as a captain. He pursued a career in the cattle business.

He had been a member of the Poinsett Club and the Cotillion Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Sissy) Cannon Goodale and daughters Mary, Elizabeth and Frances. He is also survived by grandsons Donovan and Anderson Stettner and Lee and David Syracuse and his brother Bruce Goodale of Radford, VA.

Russell's family will receive friends and relatives at his home on Thursday, February 20, from 4 to 6:30 pm.

Private burial will be in Springwood Cemetery.
