Edmund B. Martin, 88, of Sarasota, FL, formerly Lynchburg, VA, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2012.
Ed was married to Mary Frances Moore Martin, of Greenville, SC, for 63 years. He was the father of Steve Martin (Barbara Davis) of Grand Prairie, Tex., Carol Martin Fanshaw (George) of Timonium, MD, Terry Martin Maloney (Jim) of Sarasota, Rick Martin (Becky Archer) of Mullins, SC and Beth Martin Bentley (Victor) of Highland Village, Tex. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Ed was employed by General Electric for 28 years as advertising and public relations manager. He was a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans where we was born, August 23, 1924. He served his country as a Second Lieutenant in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his brother and closest friend, David, an infant son, Keith, as well as many extended family and friends.
A gentle man with a huge heart and a devout Catholic, we take solace in the knowledge that he rests in his Father's loving arms.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic chapel at 1:00pm on Friday, October 26 followed by interment with veteran's honors at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.

Knowing Ed for only a couple of years, he was a good friend. But that is what is not unusual being the kind of guy he was.
