Gerry James Kunz, 80, widower of Virginia B. Kunz, died Monday, October 7, 2013.

Born in Ferndale, MI, he was the son of the late Erwin Otto and Janet McKay Kunz.

Mr. Kunz retired from Willis as Senior Vice President and was a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Greenville ARP Church where he also taught Sunday school, was past President of the Foothills Korean War Veterans Association and past President of the Pleasantburg Lions Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheri Owensby and husband, Michael, of Simpsonville; two sons, Kenneth W. Kunz and wife, Jan, of Albuquerque, NM and Terry E. Kunz and wife, Margaret, of Simpsonville; a sister, Virginia Brant of Paw Paw, MI; two brothers, Barry Kunz of Beaumont, TX and Lester Kunz of Longwood, FL; and five grandchildren, Clark A. Kunz, Rebecca Kunz, Jake Kunz, Wyatt Owensby and Walt Owensby.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenville ARP Church. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pleasantburg Lions Club, 4 Millbrooke Circle, Greenville, SC 29609 or the Korean War Veterans Association Foothills Chapter SC #301, PO Box 6903, Greenville, SC 29606 attn: Memorial Fund.
