John David "J.D." Park, Jr., SCHP Ret., 88, of Greenville went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday, December 7, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.
Born in Fairfield County, SC, he was the son of the late Dave & Bessie Park. Mr. Park was a US Navy Veteran of WWII and a lifetime member of the Walden Masonic Lodge. He retired as a Sergeant from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after 39 years of service. He was a member of Parisview Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Peggy Lipscomb Park; his son, David Park and wife Brenda; his daughter Cherry Godfrey and husband Allen: four grandchildren, Ray Bishop and wife Jackie, Aaron Godfrey, Kara Park and Garrison Park and a great granddaughter, Lindsey Chandler and husband Phillip.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at Parisview Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Park Family Cemetery in Greenwood, SC at 3:30 PM on Monday with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM Sunday afternoon at The Howze Mortuary.
The family requests that any active, former and retired members of the SC Highway Patrol serve as Honorary Escorts during the funeral service.
The family will be at their respective homes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Manning House and McCall Hospice House for the loving care they gave to Mr. Park while he was in their care.
