James O. Childress

James Oliver Childress, 90, husband of Lucille Katherine Pinion Childress of Greenville went to be with the Lord July 8, 2014.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Haygood and Ora Ferguson Childress.

James served in the United States Army and was retired from the construction business. He was a member of Leawood Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of 69 years, he is survived by sons; Gary and his wife Kay of Westerville, OH, Kenneth and his wife Nancy of Greenville; and daughter Brenda Rivard and her husband John of Greenville; one grandchild, Kimberly Pils and her husband Chad, and two great-grandchildren Lydia and Julia Pils; six sisters, Sadie LaMunion, Betty Sewell, Wilma Hines, Winifred Hindman, Katherine Albertson, and Pam Crispo. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

A Visitation will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, July 10, 2014 from 12:00-1:15 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
