James W. Teasley


James W. Teasley passed on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013. Born in Hartwell, GA on July 29, 1923, he was a son of the late James Loy and Cola Neese Teasley. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in passing by his only brother, Lucius Teasley. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Jim is survived by his son, Wayne (Nancy) Teasley; a daughter, Pat McClintock; and wife, Julia; granddaughters, Evans and Mary-Neel McClintock; grandsons, Thomas and Bradley Teasley.

Jim served in the US Army in the European Theater of Operations; was in the "D Day" landing and awarded the Bronze Star and five battle stars. Jim graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. He retired from the Greenville News in 1992 after 41 years.

Memorial Services will be held 12 noon Saturday at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Arthur Holt and Rev. Donna Lollis. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 to 11:45 am. Internment Committal Service will be held at 1 pm at Greenville Memorials Gardens Chapel with full military honors.
