James Walter Johnson, 84, of Chattanooga, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 12, 2013.
Mr. Johnson was born in Alexandria, LA. He was a graduate of Tulane University and a retired division controller at Union Carbide Corp.
He was most recently a member of Red Bank Baptist Church in Red Bank, TN and previously a member of Taylors First Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class Coed 27 in Taylors, S.C. He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher throughout his adult life, and as a board member of Collins Children's Home and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Survivors include three children, Brenda Trigg of Chattanooga, TN, Karl Johnson of Margate, FL and Andrea Angerosa of S. Meriden, CT; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also a sister, Jane Doyle of Savannah, GA. He was predeceased by his wife, Verna Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17 at 11 o'clock at Taylors First Baptist Church in the chapel. Rev. Lindsey O'Rear will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:30 in the mausoleum at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock in the reception area behind the chapel at the church.
