Jimmy Carl Dixon, 79, of Greenville, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 from complications related to pulmonary fibrosis.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Carl E. and Constance Joy Carroll Dixon.
Mr. Dixon served in the US Army and received his Bachelor's degree from Furman University. He was a devout Christian and a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville, where he served on the Church Vestry and on various other committees. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Jimmy enjoyed farming part-time, hiking on the Appalachian Trail and bluegrass music and festivals. He enjoyed watching Clemson and Georgia football games and loved to vacation on Hilton Head Island.
Mr. Dixon is survived by sister, Dotsy Dixon; and children, Katherine D. Dixon, Stephen C. Dixon, and Amanda J. Dixon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Dixon Hughes.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
