Paul Edmond "Ed" Seaman
Paul Edmond "Ed" Seaman, 91, of Emeritus of Greenville, formerly of both The Gardens at Eastside and his residence on Batesview Drive, died Sunday, October 13, 2013.
Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late Amelia Mikel Seaman Hodge and Joseph Seaman.
Ed was a Furman University graduate, Class of 1943. He was then commissioned an officer in the United States Navy. He served in both WW II and the Korean War, being discharged as Lieutenant, USNR in 1955. Sea Duty was aboard USS STANTON and USS LATIMER. For 15 years he served as sports writer for the Fayetteville, NC Observer. He retired from NC State University as the Sports Director.
Ed is survived by his sister, Lucia Bender, of Wilmington, NC; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony Seaman and Joseph Seaman; and by his sisters, Edna Seaman, Josephine Underwood, Mary Farrell and Rose Brown.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00 Noon Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Bart Leon as Celebrant. Burial will follow at West Oakwood Cemetery in Spartanburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or to the Monastery of St. Clare.
