Rhemar Percy Lane


Rhemar Percy Lane, 85, husband of Pansi (Pat) Dunn Lane, died Sat., Jan. 11, 2014, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was the son of the late Willie Percy Lane and Hallie Rogers Lane, and born Jan. 23, 1928 in Mullins, SC.

He retired as District Manager in Columbia of AM International after 30 years of service. He worked as Assistant Manager in Atlanta, GA, and manager and sales representative in Greenville, SC.

Rhemar was a member of the Rotary Club of Greenville with 35 years of perfect attendance. He served as Secretary for five years and was always interested in the club's many projects.

He was an alumnus of Clemson University.

In retirement, he took part in many volunteer activities. He was a member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and Tommy Thompson Fellowship Class.

He served as State Legislative Chairman of AARP. He was a member of Paris Mountain State Park Friends, Altamont Club, and served as its president, as well as his political party precinct for many years. He was also a member of the Poinsett Club.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Rhemar will be remembered for his outgoing personality and great sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife, Pansi Dunn-Lane; two brothers, William Roger Lane (Bernell) and Jerry Clifton Lane (Sharon); sister-in-law, Sue Lane; six nieces and nephews; and six great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Carlton Lane.

The funeral service will be held Tues., Jan. 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., preceded by visitation from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church Chapel, with Rev. Grover Putnam and Rev. Jerry Temple officiating. Interment will follow at the C.M. Gaffney Mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Congregational Care, Buncombe St. United Methodist Church, 200 Buncombe St., Greenville, SC 29601.
