Robert "Bobby" McKelvey, Sr.

Fountain Inn

Robert "Bobby" Cook McKelvey, Sr., 72, of Fountain Inn, husband of Karen Gowan McKelvey, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late James Grady and Virginia Cook McKelvey.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fountain Inn. Bobby was the Fountain Inn Fire Chief from 1976 to 1986 and past building inspector and supervisor for the maintenance dept. He also served two terms on Fountain Inn City Council.

He was co-owner of Fountain Inn Auto Supply. Bobby was Scout Master of Boy Scout Troup #48 in Fountain Inn from 1979 to 1985.

In addition to his loving wife Karen, he is survived by two sons, Bobby C. McKelvey, Jr. and Bill McKelvey and his wife Heather; Grandchildren: Emily Snapp and husband Eric, Rebecca Armstrong and her husband Charlie, Corporal Bryce McKelvey, USMC, Will McKelvey, and Hunter McKelvey; and Great-grandchildren: Ellie Snapp, Erin Snapp, Eli Snapp, Grayson Armstrong, and Tori Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James L. McKelvey.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Cannon Memorial Park.
