Roy Henry McJunkin


Roy Henry McJunkin of Greenville, S. C. died on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the age of 92.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Henry and Eula Freeman McJunkin.

Mr. McJunkin was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Greenville, S.C. and served as Sunday School Superintendent and deacon for many years. He was presently serving as Chairman of the Church Trustees. He was retired from a career in the insurance field, a WWII Army Veteran, EX-POW, member of the local POW chapter, and a member of Gideons International North Camp.

Surviving are his son, Wayne McJunkin and his wife, Judy of Greenville, one sister, Mildred Whaley and her husband, Claude of Greenville, Grandchildren, Anne Edland and her husband, Tony of Greer, Lynn Wolfe and her husband, Mark of Taylors, Timothy McJunkin and his wife, Auburn of Greenville, Great-grandchildren Caroline, Lance, and Samantha McJunkin of Greenville, Christian Edland of Greer, and Marly Wolfe of Taylors.

He was also predeceased by his wife, Lois Greer McJunkin; a son, David Keith McJunkin; a brother, Robert McJunkin of Greenville; and a sister, Mamie Brookshire of Rock Hill.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:30 pm and the funeral will be at 2:00 pm at Mountain Creek Baptist Church led by Pastor Paul Crews. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
