Travelers Rest

E. Wayne Ward, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his home.

Born in Travelers Rest, he was the son of the late Lee and Katie Hollingsworth Ward and was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. Mr. Ward helped lead the Travelers Rest High Basketball team to their 63-64 year State Championship and served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War from 1967-68 during the TET Offense.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Kay Smith Ward; 3 sons, Brian (Jerrilynn), Kevin (Katie) and Jason Ward; 1 brother, Gary (Chloe) Ward; 2 sisters, Jackie (Rod) Hanson and Reda (Ron) Harvey; 5 grandchildren, Jordan, Judith Kate, Emmalie, Ashlyn and Drayton Ward and 1 great-grandson, Bradley Ward.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at Clearview Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with visitation prior from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.

The family will be at their respective homes.
