Varnell John Dobson
Dec. 17, 1935 - March 14, 2014
My best friend passed away today. He was born in Logan, Utah, to Orval and Lovenia Dobson, and raised in Richmond, Utah. He attended North Cache High School where he excelled in basketball. He served honorably in the U.S. Army for six years, and then spent the next 35 plus years driving truck, winning awards for being accident and citation free for more than a million miles. He married his sweetheart April on July 27, 1991.
Varnell was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Lovenia, and his brother, Garth Dobson. He is survived by his sisters, Noreen McEwan, Norma (Wade) Facer, Karla Rasmussen and Linda (LeRoy) Eskelson, and his brother Paul (Heather) Dobson. Also survived by his wife April and children: Todd (Betty) Montgomery, Chris and Darren Dobson, Rick (Kim) Malin and Becky Malin, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and his loving companion, Sadie.
Thanks to the loving support of Jim and LaRee Larsen, Steve and Debbie Booth, Oliver and Lucy Ullibarri, and many others.
Funeral services will be at noon Monday, March 24, at Utah Veterans Memorial Park Chapel, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. Casual dress, please. Online guest book available at
