Liegl, Sister Anne

Sister Anne Liegl, (formally known as Sister Callista), age 100, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Tuesday evening, November 12, 2013 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.

The former Anna Mary Liegl was born on February 3, 1913 in Bay Shore, Michigan, daughter of the late John B. & Anna (Fuchs) Liegl. She entered the Convent in 1929 and professed her vows in 1932. Sister Anne earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana. Sister Anne served as an elementary teacher at St. Mary, Kaukauna, St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, St. Paul, Holy Innocents & Sacred Heart, Manitowoc, St. John, Seymour, St. Rose, Clintonville, St. John, Antigo, SS Peter & Paul, Kiel, Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, St. Joseph, Waukesha, St. Agnes Green Bay, St. Joseph, Kellnersville, all of Wisconsin; St. Ambrose, Ironwood, Michigan, St. Sylvester, Woodsfield, Ohio. She also served in the Admissions Office and Business Office at Holy Family College, Manitowoc, the Business Office at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio and performed various services at the Regional House, Green Bay, St. Benedict, Cambridge, Ohio, Guardian Angels, West Point, Nebraska and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Since 2005, she had been residing at St. Rita Health Center at Holy Family Convent. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.

Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Anna (Fuchs) Liegl; three brothers: Fred, John and Wilbert and four sisters: Mary, Emma, Betty & Joanne.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Placid Stroik, OFM with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
