Cyril A. "Cy" Suing, age 88, of 2931 43rd St. Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Friday, September 27, 2013 at his residence.
Cyril was born November 10, 1924 in St. Helena, Nebraska, a son of the late Hugo & Anna (Wortmann) Suing. He was a graduate of Trinity High School in Hartington, Nebraska and furthered his education at St. Olaf Seminary in Minnesota. Cy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. On August 23, 1947, he married Marilyn A. Kirschling at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. His entire employment career was spent with Montgomery Ward Stores throughout the Midwest, retiring as a store manager of Montgomery Ward of Chicago. Cy was an avid gardener and after retirement worked for the West Gardens of Manitowoc. He was very active at his church - St. Peter the Fisherman Parish of Two Rivers, lending a helping hand wherever needed, assisting with grounds keeping, and singing with the "Coming Home" Choir. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Suing; seven children: Cathy and Mark Schulz, Carmel, Indiana, Dan and Sue Suing, Lodi, Karen and Lloyd Voss, Plymouth, Kevin and Kristy Suing, Fox Point, Anne and Jim Gingles, Mosinee, John and Laura Suing, Richland, Wash., and Mary and Dan Knutson, Lodi; his grandchildren: Jennifer (Dave) Banta, Laura (Mike) Cohen, Dan Schulz, Matt (Kayla) Suing, Mike Suing, Casey (Celene) Wilson, Corey (Jenny) Wilson, Ken Wilson, Sam Suing, Libby Suing, Billy Kewer, Mark Kewer, Michael Hartzberg, Samantha Hartzberg, McKenzie Suing; and eleven great grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers & four sisters: Henry (Georgine) Suing, Gerald (Joan) Suing, Jeanette Lamers, Joy Albrecht, Margaret Anne, and Rosemary Gunther, all of Nebraska; several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: James Kirschling, Milwaukee, Esther Kirschling, Wisconsin Rapids, Anita Memet, Bethlehem, PA, Jane Kirschling, Tampa, FL, and Charles (Lou Helen) Kirschling, Whitefish Bay; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by seven brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Reynebeau, with burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded at the church immediately following the mass by members of the VFW Post #1248 and American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Thursday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter the Fisherman Parish.
