Arneman, Harry E.

Harry Arneman, age 81, of 1713 29th Street, Two Rivers, died Thursday evening, April 25, 2013, at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Harry was born October 16, 1931, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Elmer and Lily (Myers) Arneman. He attended schools in the Two Rivers area, graduating from Washington High School with the class of 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas in the Korean Conflict. On July 2, 1988, he married Lila Taddy at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. He was employed by Kelvinator Commercial Products and Fox Hills Resort. He also delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, serving several terms on the Church Council and many years as the grade school basketball coach. He was an avid bowler and golfer, baseball player and umpire, and basketball coach and referee. He was inducted into the Two Rivers Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1999. He was a fan of the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as the Packers and Brewers. He especially enjoyed the time he was able to spend surrounded by his family, and golfing with his sons.

Survivors include his wife Lila, Two Rivers; five children: Kay (Dean) Smogoleski, Two Rivers, Sue (David) Hanssen, Oconomowoc, Bruce Arneman, Mishicot, Barry (Alane) Arneman, Newberg, WI, Mark (Dana) Arneman, Manitowoc; one step-son, Dean Gordon, Fond Du Lac; eight grandchildren: Jason (Katie) Smogoleski, Jessica (Chad) Delagrange, Adam and Carissa Svatek, Zoe and Ian Arneman, Jeremy and Morgan Arneman; four great-grand children: Luke and Mallory Smogoleski, Tyler and Ava Delagrange. He is further survived by his first wife: Hazel (Ouradnik) Arneman, Two Rivers; five brothers-in-law: Ivor Richmond, Harold (Nancy) Taddy, George (Lorene) Taddy, Dale (Joanne) Taddy, Robert (Lavonne) Taddy; two sisters-in-law: Marlene Star, Karen (Gary) Karstaedt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as his companions Buddy and Holly. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister: Mae Richmond; his brother: Alan (Butch) Arneman; and his fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law: William and Violet Ouradnik, Sr., and Antone and Harletta Taddy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 17th & East Park St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Dan Walters with burial in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military honors will be accorded immediately following the services by members of American Legion Post # 165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, on Monday evening, April 29, 2013; from 5 until 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be directed in Harry's name to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3607 45th Street, Two Rivers.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Aurora Medical Center for all the care given over these past several years.
